The ‘AlyKat’ is the ultimate purpose built charter Catamaran. Launched at the beginning of March 2008, she is fitted out to the skippers specification, for the benefit of anglers.  She is based on a "Southcat 32” hull and is economically powered by twin 250hp engines. She is capable of a maximum speed of  well over 21 knots, with a cruising speed of around 15 knots fully loaded. Carrying a code of practice licence, and fully insured, she can carry 10 anglers in absolute comfort within a radius of 60 miles from a safe haven/place of safety.

SAFETY EQUIPMENT

The code of practice demands that the vessel is maintained to a very high standard and carries the full range of safety and first-aid equipment.

FISHING

A variety of fishing is undertaken in the Bristol Channel, from uptiding on inshore sandbanks for Rays, Turbot, Smoothhounds, etc to the deep water reefs and wrecks which provide Conger, Huss and Pollack etc. The summer months provide us with some fine catches of Bass, with the current Bristol Channel record of 14lb 4oz held by the skipper, Dave Roberts. The winter also give excellent sport with a variety of species which include Cod, Whiting and Spurdog. There is no enforced ‘fish limit’ on any of our trips, and all fish kept for the table are filleted and prepared for the customer. We offer a range of trips from single day to seven day charters and accommodation can be provided at either comfortable guest houses or friendly local pubs, all offering good value and competitive rates.

LUNDY ISLAND

Lundy Island trips are a summer speciality. Lundy is the ‘jewel in the crown’ of the Bristol Channel scene. The blue-water fishing ranges from reef fishing for Pollack and Coalfish, many of which reach double figures, to the sandbanks which produce Rays, Turbot and Tope, and for the enthusiast the occasional shark.

As Lundy Island is situated approximately 45 miles from Minehead the duration of these trips are either 1 day (12 hours) or 2 day trips with comfortable accommodation available at Ilfracombe.
