This section of the Bristol Channel is made up a large area of tidal
mud flat.
Looking towards the old Severn Bridge at Aust.
The flats are grassy for the most part and will flood on the larger
spring tides.
Beachley on the opposite bank.
This flooding will cover part of the road at Old Passage,
so beware of where you park your car! The worst section for flooding
is near to the old access road (private?) for the long extinct Aust Ferry.
You can see the high tide debris across the road and into the hedges!
Codling, Flounder, Bass and Sole are the main targets depending on
the time of year you fish.
Standard beach tackle will be more than adequate, if you want better
sport then use lighter tackle. Running ledger gear for the flatties up to
two up and one down rigs, to cover all options.
The
edge of the flood plain where it meets the mud flats.
