Sandbay

Sand Bay (Weston-Super-Mare)

Sand Bay Main Beach

To the north of Weston-Super-Mare is Sand Bay. This is a bit of a misnomer, as there is definitely more mud
than sand by no stretch of the imagination! It is relatively shallow.  The bay completely dries at low water.
Plenty of common lugworm are here, but as winter goes on they become much more difficult to find.
You can fish from one of a few rock marks on to the sand/mud, off the ‘Toll Road’ for about three hours either
side of high water.

One of the shore marks known as the 'Ladder' along the Toll Road. High water will give a very
good depth at the mark.

For about two and a half hours (max) either side of high you can fish the main beach. This beach is used a
couple of times a year for competitions. The main species targeted here are Flounder, Silver Eels and Bass.
Bass are more likely to be caught from the northern end towards Sand Point. Mullet are also frequently
caught by those particularly targeting them.

To get there:-

1-                 From Weston-Super-Mare town centre follow the signs for Kewstoke and ‘Toll Road’. There is a toll
payable during the March to October period. The bay is revealed in all its’ splendour to your left as
you travel.

2-                 From M5 (Jnc 21, St Georges) follow signs for Worle. Once in Worle follow signs for Kewstoke and
Sand Bay.
