Weston-Super-Mare

The Beach is about one and a half miles long, commencing at the mouth of the River Axe at
Uphill, to the south, and ending at Birnbeck Island to the north.

Uphill Beach, Weston Super Mare.

The beach  is much like Brean and Berrow, being sand/mud and relatively shallow. The River
Axe enters the sea at Uphill which concentrates Silver Eels and Bass at that end. Flounders are
also caught, along with the occasional Conger. During winter Cod, Codling and Whiting are the
main targets. Bass also occasionally turn up. This is a high-water mark only, as the tide goes
out well over a mile.

The beach is a popular competition venue for local clubs, so check the competition page.

Parking is easy, either on the road or on the beach itself. Make sure you have bought your
tickets, if needed, as the wardens are very keen!

There are two piers at WSM. Angling is not permitted on the Grand Pier, and only club members
can fish from the Birnbeck Pier.

Easy fishing into deeper water is available at Knightstone, next to the quay. There are even
shelters to sit in. Good shore Conger are caught here frequently.

Lugworms are a plenty on the beach, mainly at the central and northern sections.
